How did you and your fiancé meet?
We met playing co-ed softball
Tell me about the proposal?
Stephen planned the perfect proposal for months; and everyone knew about it except Elizabeth. He got Elizabeth’s boss in on it – she told Elizabeth there was a client lunch that day she needed to be dressed nicely for so that her hair and make-up would be done and invited Elizabeth to get her nails done to celebrate her recent promotion. He talked to both of their families to make sure they were there to see it. He told all their friends and planned an engagement party brunch for the next day. On March 5, 2021, Stephen finally asked Elizabeth to marry him. Stephen had an elaborate plan to surprise Elizabeth. He picked her up after work and they grabbed drinks and appetizers. Stephen told Elizabeth they had dinner reservations that they were going to be early for, but not to worry, he had a great idea. He took her to the cell phone waiting lot at MCO to “watch planes go by.” Little did Elizabeth know, her parents, her sisters and their families, and Stephen’s siblings were all in the lot waiting. Elizabeth and Stephen got out and leaned on the hood of the car and the conversation went a little like this: Him: So I’ve been lying to you… Her: Ummmm, about what? Him: Quite a bit, actually…the biggest lie of them all is that the brunch tomorrow is not for the golf tournament. Its actually our ENGAGEMENT brunch. Cue Stephen down on one knee, Elizabeth crying, and both their families ambushing them.
What’s your favorite thing to do for date night?
We are both extroverts and very outgoing; we go to theme parks, attend sporting events (Solar Bears, Magic, Orlando City), watch sporting events (Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, FSU, UCF), double date with friends.
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
While everyone was dancing, drinking and chatting at our reception, we stepped to the side and just watched everyone for a minute. We reminded ourselves that everyone was there because of the love that we shared with one another and that there would never be another day in our lives where his cousin would be chatting with my best friend’s mom.
Why did you select your venue?
We loved that the ceremony space had the Spanish moss, the reception space had a large dance floor and that everything was at one location.
Why did you want to hire Socialite Events?
Although we did a lot of the planning we wanted Socialite to make sure all our i’s were dotted and our t’s were crossed. We also didn’t want us or our loved ones to have to worry about a single thing the day of. From set up, to scheduling to break down, Socialite Events was 100% worth hiring!
What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
We heard it a million times when planning our wedding, “nothing is going to matter the day of except for the fact that you’re marrying each other.” I didn’t really believe this until it was the day of my wedding. I had a bridesmaid show up with the wrong color dress the morning of, everyone was freaking out and couldn’t believe that I wasn’t freaking out with them. My sister/ Matron of Honor ended up having an extra dress in the correct color that just so happened to fit the bridesmaid, except for the length. Next thing you know, that bridesmaid was standing on a chair while the other was trimming the dress with a pair of scissors we borrowed from the front desk at the hotel.
