Support the bride with planning
Planning a wedding takes a lot of work, so the bride might ask you to help. She might delegate tasks, ask for your feedback, or simply need someone to vent to. Whatever the case, make sure you’re available to chip in and provide stress relief.
Buy your dress early
This is one of the most important things you can do as a bridesmaid. The bride might give you free-range on color and style, but you should still get her approval before you order your dress. You should purchase your dress a few months in advance to ensure it fits- and if it doesn’t you have time to find another option.
Book your accommodations
The couple will usually provide a room block at a hotel for guests, so make sure to book yours early.
Help plan the bachelorette party
The maid of honor is usually in charge of organizing the bachelorette party, but she might need help especially if it’s a destination party. Offer to help brainstorm ideas and make reservations. Each member of the bridal party should pay for their portion of the party and cover the cost of the bride.
Be available to attend pre-wedding events
There are several events the bride might want you to attend such as an engagement party, bridal shower, and rehearsal dinner. You might not be able to attend all events leading up to wedding day, but you should try to be available. Even if you can’t attend in person, you can video chat to show your support.

Stay on schedule
It’s important to stick to the schedule on wedding day. Arrive on time for hair and makeup and keep an eye on time throughout the day. Understand the flow of events so you know where everyone is supposed to be.
Keep the bride happy
Do your part to keep the bride stress free. Lighten the mood with music and make sure the bride eats and drinks throughout the day.

Assist with last minute tasks
Brides will usually hire a wedding coordinator to help things run smoothly, but sometimes extra help is needed. The bridesmaids should be available to help get squared away. Last minute tasks could include coordinating with vendors, arranging décor, or picking up supplies.
Have fun
The reception is the time to let loose and have fun. Mingle with family and friends, have a couple drinks, and get out on the dance floor.
